Power, size, and pedigree — built for the future.
About Buckshot
Buckshot has been special from the very beginning. From the moment he was born, we knew he had the presence, build, and attitude that made him a serious stallion prospect. He carries himself with confidence and has always had that extra look about him that catches your attention.
He is by our foundation stallion, Colonel C Header, and we consider him “Header 2.0” — a colt we’re hoping will continue his sire’s legacy in our program. Buckshot brings the same substance, athletic ability, and practical mind that we value so much.
Maternal Influence
His dam, Star Girl RG, was one of our most prized mares. She had the kind of disposition, quality, and presence that made a lasting impact on our program, and we see many of those same traits coming through in Buckshot. Horses like her are hard to replace, and her influence is something we are excited to carry forward through him.
Continuing a Legacy
Colonel C Header had a major influence on our program, and Buckshot represents the next chapter. Our goal is for him to carry forward those same qualities while adding his own strengths to future generations.
We believe Buckshot has the potential to continue the kind of horses our program is known for — usable, good-minded, and built to last.
Color Genetics
Buckshot is EE / AA color panel tested.
In simple terms, this means:
• He will always pass a black gene to his foals
• He will not produce red-based (sorrel/chestnut) foals
This gives breeders more predictability when planning crosses, especially when breeding for bay, roan, buckskin, or other color outcomes.
What We Expect Buckshot to Add to His Foals
• Substance and bone
• Athletic ability
• Size and structure
• Trainable minds
• Disposition and willingness
• Versatility
• Practical ranch ability
Our Stallion Philosophy
Our stallions live and work together year-round as part of our ranch horse string and are only separated during breeding season. They are used regularly for ranch work alongside the rest of our horses, which we believe helps maintain sound minds, good dispositions, and long-term usability.
We’ve always believed stallions should stay horses first — useful, rideable, and mentally sound — and that approach has worked well for us.
Why We Kept Buckshot
We kept Buckshot because he represents exactly what we’re trying to produce — athletic, good-minded horses with substance and usability. He combines proven genetics with the kind of attitude we want to see in future generations.
He is a big part of the future of Hitchcock Quarter Horses.
First Foals
Buckshot’s first foals are expected Spring 2026, and we are very excited to see what he produces.
