BOBBY D WILD CARD — “Bobby D” — is our 2024 sorrel AQHA stallion prospect by Wild Card Dun It and out of Chancey Big Sky.

Bobby D has the substance, bone, strong hip, and presence that make us stop and take another look.

The more he grows up, the more we catch ourselves saying the same thing:

“Now THAT’S what a stud is supposed to look like.”

His disposition and willingness under saddle have given us plenty more to appreciate. We enjoy a horse with a quiet mind, athletic ability, and an attitude that makes us look forward to saddling him.

So far, Bobby D keeps giving us reasons to be excited about his future.

Why He Came Home With Us

The mare family caught our attention before Bobby D was born.

On an earlier visit to L.A. Waters Quarter Horses, Mike and I fell in love with one of their replacement fillies. Wanda told us that her dam line was one of their favorite and strongest mare families.

When we learned that Chancey Big Sky had a stud colt in 2024, we decided he needed to live with us.

Header had already given us tremendous confidence in the L.A. Waters program. With Walker and Bobby D, we went back to horse families we knew we wanted to build on.

Under Saddle & Around the Ranch

Bobby D was started by Carynn Fredrickson at Diamond E Performance Horses, where he received 60 days of riding.

Carynn absolutely loved him.

While he was away getting his start, the trainer updates were exactly what we like to hear: confident, willing, and taking things in stride.

He came home in August 2026, and his first trip out moving pairs gave us an opportunity to see that education put to work.

Bobby D rocked it.

Quiet. Athletic. Solid. He went to work.

He even hauled out in a trailer full of mares without making a peep.

He is now continuing his education with Luke Wiggins, who calls him the “Gentle Giant.”

That description makes us smile. His mind matters every bit as much to us as his size and presence.

We’re enjoying watching Bobby D grow up and giving him meaningful time under saddle as his development continues.

A Performance Family We Appreciate

Bobby D is a full brother to PRETTY WILD CARD and HAIL MARY WILD CARD, all by Wild Card Dun It and out of Chancey Big Sky.

Pretty Wild Card won the Elite Breeders Incentive in both 4-and-under breakaway and tie-down roping at the 2025 Gold Buckle Spring Showdown, ridden by Hadley Thompson and Beau Cooper, respectively.

Hail Mary Wild Card has been ridden by Rylie Smith, the 2022 Women’s Rodeo World Championship Challenger Heading World Champion.

His paternal half sister, LETS BOOGIE WILDCARD “Eva,” shares their sire, Wild Card Dun It. With Madison Outhier, Eva finished second in the 2026 Nutrena Horse of the Year breakaway voting.

Those family accomplishments are meaningful to us as breeders. We’re giving Bobby D time to develop his own abilities and learn what he brings as an individual.

A Name With a Story

Bobby D’s breeders named him after Robert “Bobby” Duvall, who rode his sire, Wild Card Dun It, in Seven Days in Utopia.

That’s a pretty fun connection to carry around with your registered name.

Our Stallion Philosophy

At the ranch, our stallions live and work together as part of our ranch horse string and are separated during breeding season. They are used regularly for ranch work alongside our other horses. We believe this approach helps maintain sound minds, good dispositions, and long-term usability.

We’ve always believed stallions should stay horses first—useful, rideable, and mentally sound—and that approach has worked well for us.

Future Breeding Plans

Bobby D will have limited breeding to our HQH mares in 2027.

Any future outside breedings or semen offerings would be to approved mares only.
