We already owned two full sisters out of this cross — mares we thought an awful lot of.

So when the opportunity came up to purchase another one…

There wasn’t much discussion.

We said yes.

The Name

Twix got her name honestly.

When we bought her, she had been living the good life — and it showed.

She was a little on the “well-fed” side… like she might’ve had one too many candy bars.

So “Twix” just fit.

And it stuck.

She had been ridden and used on the ranch before we purchased her, and we’ve put our own miles on her since.

Our Broodmare Philosophy

For us, a mare needs to be proven before she ever earns a place in the broodmare band. That might be in the show pen, on the ranch, or before she ever got to us — but she needs to have demonstrated ability and rideability. At a minimum, she is broke to ride with meaningful time under saddle.

We’ve put real miles on our mares — gathering, working cattle, and using them in day-to-day ranch work — so we know exactly what they’re like when it matters.

They have to meet the same standard as everything else here:
usable, good-minded, and built to last.

Twix fits that standard.
