About Spendy

Every once in a while, a mare comes along that’s a little different than the rest.

Spendy was that kind.

The Name

At the time we bought her, she was the most we had ever paid for a horse.

And the name just kind of stuck.

Spendy.

Modern Bloodlines

When you look at Spendy’s pedigree, you see some of today’s most recognized and proven performance bloodlines.

She is an own daughter of Boon Too Suen, a NCHA World Champion stallion and proven sire whose offspring have earned millions across cutting and cow horse events.

That kind of pedigree brings a different dimension into a program.

It adds:

• Proven performance genetics
• Athletic ability
• And a level of consistency at the highest levels of the industry

She is, without a doubt, the most “modern bred” mare in our program.

Why We Bought Her

We were drawn to Spendy for a few specific reasons:

Her breeding.
Her size and bone.
And the kind of horse she was built to be.

She had been trained for the show pen and started on cow work, with a solid foundation and a good amount of riding behind her.

She’s one of the few mares we haven’t personally put extensive miles on — but in her case, we were confident in the training and foundation she came with.

And that matters.

Because at the end of the day, we still expect the same things:
A good mind.
Rideability.
And the ability to go do a job.

What She Produces

Spendy has already started to show us what she brings to the table as a producer.

Her foals are:

• Substantial and well-built
• Good-minded and willing
• And easy to be around

Her 2022 colt, “Nickel,” has been especially telling — a quiet, calm, willing colt that continues to impress us every time we handle him.

She adds size, bone, and athletic ability — and crosses well with our program.

A Note on Her 2026 Foal

Spendy was preg-checked in foal for a 2026 baby.

However, based on how she’s carried since, we believe she may have lost that pregnancy and is currently open.

What She Adds to Our Program

Spendy fills a specific role in our broodmare band.

She brings:

• Modern, high-end performance genetics
• Size and substance
• And a different type of cross than many of our home-raised mares

That balance matters.

Because a good program isn’t built on one type of horse — it’s built on knowing what each mare contributes and how they complement each other.

Our Broodmare Philosophy

For us, a mare needs to be proven before she ever earns a place in the broodmare band. That might be in the show pen, on the ranch, or before she ever got to us — but she needs to have demonstrated ability and rideability. At a minimum, she is broke to ride with meaningful time under saddle.

We’ve put real miles on our mares — gathering, working cattle, and using them in day-to-day ranch work — so we know exactly what they’re like when it matters.

They have to meet the same standard as everything else here:
usable, good-minded, and built to last.

Spendy fits that standard — and brings something a little different to the table.

Looking Ahead

Spendy is a mare we’re excited to continue building with.

She brings in outside genetics, proven bloodlines, and a type of athleticism that complements the rest of our program.

And as we continue to cross her with our stallions, we expect her to keep adding value in ways that matter.
